As we enter the ‘dog days of summer’, I know many families are vacationing and gearing up for fall. With school (and cooler days) just around the corner, I also know how thankful COTA families are for the support provided by our contributors, friends and volunteers. You truly make a difference in the lives of our transplant children and their families.
I cannot ever adequately thank you for your support of the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) and our work on behalf of transplant-needy children and families, like the Blankenship family of Washington. Perhaps this family’s words demonstrate to you how important your support of COTA programs and families truly is.
“COTA gave our family hope that Allison’s transplant would not over take over our entire life. There are so many things to worry about -- sibling relationships, marital stress, school, home and work. Worrying about finances makes everything more difficult. COTA helps take that huge hurdle out of the way.”
Jenny and Rob Blankenship, Parents of Allison
“Giving Hope … Making Miracles” This phrase truly highlights the work COTA does on behalf of transplant families who desperately need the support we receive from friends
like you. My thanks goes out to each of COTA’s Miracle Makers who have helped us give hope and make miracles in all corners of our country -- even during these challenging economic times.
As we face numerous challenges and obstacles on behalf of our patients from the obvious medical hurdles and emotional strain -- but also the less apparent, like being hundreds (sometimes thousands) of miles away from close friends and families -- it is heartwarming to read messages (like the one above from Allison’s family) all because of friends, and Miracle Makers, like you. The hope you provide helps to make miracles for those families who are unable, for whatever reason, to help themselves.
Thank you,
Rick Lofgren, CFRE
President,
